Napping at 35000ft
I love that Maddie has decided she is too old for naps. Constantly she reminds me that she is a big girl and doesn’t need naps. I continue to tell her that sometimes when we have busy days, gets lots of sun, or stay up late it is good to take a nap.
As much as she talks about being to big she really doesn’t fight it…and of course I can tell the signs of when she has had too much and needs the nap. Just this week after 4 hours in the sun I asked her to lay down for a few minutes and she was asleep in under 1min.
Now we have a rule when we travel..something I implemented when she was 3 to make the flights go smoother and I have no plans of ditching it anytime soon. As soon as we get on the plane it is rest time. Now there is no limit to how long you have to sleep…once you go to sleep you can get up. Sometimes the naps are just 30min sometimes they are the whole flight, but there is always a nap. When we do connections you get to choose the sleeping flight and the playing flight. For those 3 hour flights its just perfect. She usually sleeps about an hour and then wakes up, watches whatever movie we rented on the touch and then it is time to land.
Today we are heading to Disney in Florida. We got upgraded..BONUS (as Maddie would say) and mommy got free wifi so double bonus. Maddie curled up with her new frog webkin (courtesy of our Prince!) and was asleep before the plane took off.
An hour later we sit here, she is watching a movie and has just finished her entire chicken breast. When you are 5 first class seats are so exciting but get FOOD on the flight sure is.
