What he said
I hate leaving my family. No matter what fun might lie ahead I always miss them. You might have a night or a part of time when you enjoy being a girl on the town, but at the end of the night it is always so much better to be under your own roof when the family all there with you.
However, without going away I wouldn’t feel so much love as I do right now.
I am sitting in a meeting and my phone vibrates. I look down and there is a picture of my two lovebugs beaming at the camera. All smiles which makes me smile. Then I notice the splash pad behind them and a backdrop I don’t recognize. They are someplace new….I of course want all the details but I am in a meeting.
I come back to my hotel and see some Facebook updates from TB…here they are:
”I think this might be a good day to smell the breeze, look around, and just have some fun.” 🙂
Here are word by word quotes from MB as we watched the E! Emmy Red Carpet.
“That is the guy from AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!” (Nigel L.)
“Oh mom look at that dress….it just has too much black and the way it just hangs. Not pretty” (didn’t get the name :()
“whooo, whoo…I love that dress, I love it, I love it. She is so pretty” (a blond in a red dress)
“When is Hannah Montana going to get up?”
“Who is that…he is funny” (Tracy Morgan)
p.s. How happy am I that she loves watching this as much as I do.
Poor TB kept turning the radio up louder and louder. His favorite line was a girl from Glee to Kim Kardashian, who said “I am a big fan”….his response- fan of what?? I love the way you walk around the house with you family and get filmed???
And I thought Claire Danes just looked incredible. Incredible!!!!!!!Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( 2 so far )
First off I need sleep. A full night of uninterrupted sleep. I haven’t had one good night in over a week. Between staying up late one night working on changing the bathroom hardware. To another night getting sucked into Avatar and then a few nights of getting up with MB I haven’t had a good long night sleep in a while. I need one.
Anyway the other night after having a sushi fest. TB wanted to go out for a family walk…get the blood moving and a little exercise. Sounded like a good idea…it had finally cooled off and someone had a little pent-up energy from no playground time. It was the first hike/walk we had done since MB got her new camelback so TB filled it up and off we went. Was a good walk…everything was good till about 2am.
So we came home and I put MB to bed after making sure she went to the potty. Sometime later in the night TB asked if I had made sure MB went potty…as he commented she drank almost all of her camelback…its about a liter so quite a bit of water. I said I did but I knew right then it probably wasn’t good enough. I thought about going to partially wake her up and go potty…but I didn’t. I should have. Why did I not say the Camelback was a bad idea….but I didn’t want to ruin their fun.
About 2am I hear my name being called from the other side of the house. Weak and weepy like. Oh boy I knew what had happened. The 3rd time in her 5 and 3/4 years of life that we have had a wet bed. Poor thing is always so upset, but no worries I stripped the bed and set her up on the couch. Sometime in the middle of the morning she moved into our bed…should I mention she sleeps like a starfish, we need a KING sized bed soon. I need a good night sleep. I need a full night of uninterrupted, no foot in my back….one night.
Fingers crossed that tonight will be that night. Meanwhile, TB learned a valuable parenting lesson. No Camelbacks before bed.Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( 8 so far )
The big event today was getting new tires for the LR3…it all started with Craig’s List. While unloading his old weights. TB came across some rover tires and rims…from the minute he talked about the post he saw I knew we would be the proud owners of new tires. The history is- the tires he currently have don’t hold air…he took them back 3 times to get them fixed with no luck and so now requires them to be refilled at least twice a month. Annoying.
Anyway we made a trip out and saw the tires…he made the deal and then pick-up was set for an hour later. The afternoon was then spent washing the rims and changing out the tires. Worked out well as I had lots of court prep to do..but that is a different story. I must admit I continue to be impressed with his mechanical ability…..and the new tires look great and the car rides really well. Fortunately we have some good friend testosterone down the street that could share in the joy of new tires.
Now if only the valve caps we just got at the auto store (TB’s candy store) had worked so he didn’t have to make one more trip back this evening…I think he was enjoying all the car fun till that point 😦 and even I wasn’t game for a second round to the auto parts store and started to enjoy my relaxation time on the couch.
I never thought twice about cars…and especially not wheels, tires, or rims…but how can I not share in the excitement with him. He makes it fun…he wants to share it with me. So as he shares on how after driving 20 miles you need to torque the tires again and how loose some of the nuts were I smile. He is a man, full of that testosterone, he loves his cars, and I love him and as such love his cars too!Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( 1 so far )
Best buddy did well tonight. The plan was set in motion earlier in the week when he decided Friday night would be “date night” and we would go to dinner and movie. Since the movie was Shrek 4, Todd also planned on some prep work of watching Shrek 2 and 3 this week to prepare for the main event.
Tonight came and we had fallen behind on watching Shrek 3 but all opted to leave in the middle to head out for happy hour sushi before our movie. As usual my girl devoured her tuna and cleansed her palate with the ginger.
Now to the main event…we got our tickets, got our seats then they went out to get treats. Now I must confess they asked for my preference, but trusting them I said they could pick. Maddie gave Todd a wink and they headed off. Now I guess I missed a mini-dance party that took place on the way to the concessions, but I am sure there will be a repeat performance soon. The only disappointment of the night is they came back with NO CHOCOLATE. Seriously, sour skittles and dots. I thought I had raised my daughter better than that. I realize I have a little more work to do.
The movie was great…anything that produces those loud, innocent laughs out of Maddie gets my vote. I have to admit my favorite part was towards the end. Shrek and Fiona get their happy ending. I got mine. Maddie snuggled up on my lap with her legs across Todd. All snuggled up together and sealed with a kiss. I sat back and smiled. I couldn’t really ask for anything more….forever after, THE END.Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( None so far )
Buggy Pukey Pukey. Buggy Pukey Pukey. Love Bug. Love Bug. Best Buddy. Best Buddy.
You might be wondering why the title of this blog is the adventures of LoveBugs. This is because that is what we are…love bugs. All 3 of us together make the love bugs, this is our blog, this is our adventure. Now where did love bug come from…I have no idea. You will have to ask him. The master of nicknames.
Every month there seems to be a new little name in the house. Some of the names are liked more than others. Best buddy was the first and it was lasting. I remember the first time Maddie made a card and was so proud she could write “BB” on it for best buddy.
Then came the love bug.
And now we have buggey pukey pukey. I don’t know if I wrote it right or if there is a right or wrong way to write it. However, this one seems to embarrass Maddie making it even more fun. Today she has decided this is not a nickname for her. Appropriate nicknames are big girl or sweetie pie. No buggy pukey pukey. Unfortunately for her I don’t think it is going anywhere soon…Read Full Post | Make a Comment ( None so far )
