First night out with the blog world

What a fun little surprise.  When I first moved to Scottsdale I started searching out the area on the web. I came across Scottsdale Mom’s Blog and quickly became a follower. Funny to note I also participated in my first online giveway…and I won. These adorable headbands from Posh A La Mode.

Well tonight they had their first Mom’s Night Out. I signed up. I then last-minute got my wonderful neighbor to join in! We have had such a great time getting to know each other this week….walks & talks!

Steph and Joy did an awesome job. We started of at Chez Vous which served us delicious wine and some amazing crepes. They just moved from France a few months ago and opened shop. I will be taking TB and MB back soon…awesome atmosphere and yummy food. We then headed over to Moonbeams which I have to admit made my pocketbook happy I wasn’t having a baby or going to a shower anytime soon. They had the most adorable stuff and some many unique handmade or personalized items. I have my spot for baby gift shopping…not to mention a couple of wall hangings that I think I am going to have to go back and get for MB’s room. One said “I want to be just like Mommy when I grow up” well now it was a cuter saying than that but you get the point…and in the middle was a place to put a photo of me and MB. It was just perfect. As I write this I am wondering why I didn’t buy it tonight!

Outside of the fun venues…I met a few neighbors in the area and was surrounded by a whole bunch of local mom’s. A really cool feeling. So my first attempt of meeting the “online world” in real life was a success and lots of fun…look forward to doing it again.

Now I am just going to have to decide if I will eat the Simply Sweets cupcake now or in the morning….it is staring at me with its beautiful flower and pink icing…saying “Eat Me”

Five Question Friday

Posted on July 9, 2010. Filed under: Five Question Friday | Tags: , , , , , , , , |

So I was browsing through the web and found 5 Question Friday…thought it might be fun to play around with that today. So here it goes.

1. What is one food you could eat everyday?

Hmmm..Mexican. Nachos, Tacos, Quesadilla…anything on a Mexican menu. I love Chipotle and I think I would be fine to eat it everyday!

2. Are you working in the career you thought you would be when you were 18?

No, I thought I was going to be a pediatrician. I don’t know when I started that plan but it was young…like grade-school age. I stuck through it all the way to college when I remember someone telling me that I should get a degree in something other than pre-Med so that if something happened after college I would have a working degree to find a job right out of college. From there as a freshman I did an Engineering 101 class where each week we saw a different Eng. I knew quickly I couldn’t do Chemical Engineering…the professors reminded me as the guy from Ferris Buehler or those Visine commericials…so DRY. I found Industrial Engineering and then my major was set….from there the rest is history.

3. What is something that you wish you would have done when you were younger and you didn’t?

Hmmm I don’t really have anything…I had a great childhood. Huge travel adventures thanks to my parents. I guess I wish I hadn’t gotten married so soon after college, lesson learned there, but now I have TB!

4. What color are your kitchen walls?

Beige…nothing special, but I love the wall to wall cabinetry.

5. Do you remember what your very first favorite song was?

Hmm I don’t I think it was Dave Matthews Band- Ant’s Marching…but I can’t remember…it could of been NKOTB!   Haha that made laugh 🙂

This was fun I think I will do 5 Question Friday again!

What’s for dinner?

Posted on May 24, 2010. Filed under: What she said | Tags: , , |

Where to start the blog…dinner seems like as good as place as any. Tonight was one of those idyllic nights. We had just got back from riding bikes to the park with the neighbors. The sun is still shining as we turn on the radio and I pour a glass of wine. Tonight is Maddie’s choice and we are having homemade mac and cheese (with peas on the side). We cook dinner together, listening to the radio, watching the sunset and I smile thinking ahh these are the nights. I love the quiet nights hanging together in the kitchen.

We sit down to enjoy our wonderful entrée and Maddie starts monopolizing the conversation. As anyone who meets her knows, and I mean everyone (from the grocery clerk to the poor lady trying to walk her dog) she is a chatterbox. Somehow between talking about being  flower girl at her Uncle Bubba’s wedding, to preparing for her spring program she switches to asking about having an “after party”. Ok she has my attention now. What does a 5 year old know about after-parties? Isn’t that something she will learn in college????? I mean we already had to cover our eyes as we left the room to wash our hands before dinner (since after 2 tries we couldn’t do it without rolling our eyes). Fortunately this time I was saved, she related “after-party” to the party after the wedding, or what the rest of us know as a reception.  Happy to know I have a few more years before after-parties = AFTER PARTIES.
