The Body Finder (Body Finder, #1) The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I wish I could remember who recommended this book to me, as I would like to thank them. Most likely it was my friend Melissa who gives me about 80% of my book recommendations. And never leads me astray no matter what genre.

This young adult/mystery was great. A high school girl who can sense the echoes of murder on both the victims and killers. She helps catch a serial murder that is targeting young girls.

The book keeps you intrigued in trying to figure out who done it and also has a romantic twist of best friends becoming more than friends. Something that was completely relate-able for me.

So if you like mystery and life romance its a great combo of both. I also found it to be a nice easy quick read…so perfect for reading by the pool or on the beach while soaking in the sun.

Hop on Pop…our first book

Posted on June 1, 2010. Filed under: Capture the moment | Tags: , , , |

Big night in our household. Huge. Huge!

We went to the library today to sign up for the summer reading adventure. While there we talked to the librarian on her suggestions for good book for beginning readers. We ended up with about 10 new books. Both of us were super excited as there was a whole series of sound books that tie so wonderfully to the Montessori sound box Maddie had been working on at school.

We got our books and our instructions for the summer challenge and headed home. Maddie couldn’t wait to read her first book so we sat on the couch with Dr. Seuss’ Hop on Pop. It was about 2 pages in when Maddie started to catch on the rhymes and sounded out the word cat. She recognizes on, the, a, and and so she was able to start putting sentences together.

What a moment..I must admit I was so excited and almost in tears. Experiencing her sounding the words out, putting the words together, and realizing she had read 4 words together. She was just as giddy and more and more determined to read page after page. She even got upset when I said a word before sounding it out for her to figure out. That’s my girl.

I have a feeling we might have a little reader soon and the summer reading challenge just got a lot more exciting.
